BALLOON FEST 2008

Ok, first of all, there are no pictures of balloons. We went to Albuquerque for the last 2 days and the weather, mostly wind, cancelled the final two days. As a matter of fact, the day we arrived one of the balloons hit some power lines due to wind, causing one fatality and one serious injury.
Coming from Austin, Martha and I flew. Paul, Laurie, Pete, Christy, David and Renee all came together in a SUV. They said they had a great time driving up for 12 hours over two days. Hhmm...exactly. Anyway, we visited the Van's, went to Old Town twice, played games and had a 'last night there' party at the B&B we were all staying at. Lot of wine, lot of fun. Live, love, laugh.

Austin airport and then on to New Mexico, stayed one night with Robert and Christine until our room was ready at the B&B. Met up with everyone else at a restaurant in Old Town. Then we just kinda hung out in Old Town and acted like tourists.

A couple of pics taken at the B&B and then a couple more from another, different restaurant, later that night.

Got up insanely early the next morning, (I don't remember how early but it was definitely obscene.), and took a shuttle to the air field but it remained too windy and no balloons were able to launch that day.

The next day the weather didn't even try, I think it pretty much poured all day. Had sandwiches, stayed in and played games. I LOVE balderdash. (Did that sound sincere?)

We decided to have an impromptu party at the B&B since we were having so much fun and the room, although small, was available. It had ovens, refridgerator, furniture and chairs and best of all was free!

View of grounds right outside our rooms. It was really nice, just a lot of rain.

We all checked out and wanted to head back to Old Town for souvenirs. The weather was good so we all crammed in one SUV and went back to Old Town one last time. Then back to the Van's for goodbyes. Everyone had such a good time we're planning to return next year and do it again. Might even get some pictures of a few balloons!
